About Business Economics, BA - at University of Exeter Business School

Modern economics covers a huge range of topics. From inflation and the control of monopoly power to the study of developing countries and the finance of multinational companies, this is a rich and complex subject area. Our graduates enjoy success in a wide range of careers, including accountancy, business and the academic world.

The Economics degree programme reflects the breadth of the subject area. Flexible and wide-ranging, it is designed to meet your needs - whether you wish to study abroad curriculum or to specialise in a particular area. The list of final year options is extensive and choice may be widened still further by selecting one final year module from outside the School. You may also submit a dissertation or business project in place of one of the options (though these choices are subject to School approval).

During the first year you'll take three compulsory modules: Principles of Economics; Introduction to Statistical Methods; and Basic Mathematical Economics. There is also an elective. In the second, you'll study Macroeconomics and Microeconomics plus one optional module and electives. And in the third year, your learning will focus on further electives.

Please note that no previous study of economics is required or assumed. If you have A-level mathematics, you may want to also consider our programme in Economics and Statistics.
