This part time postgraduate module of 30 credits is open to registered nurses. It can be studied as part of a programme leading to postgraduate certificate, postgraduate diploma or MSc. It can also be studied as a stand alone module to meet SSPRD requirements supporting extended nursing roles.
The module aims to enable the student to enhance knowledge and skills relating to patient assessment in order to propose and initiate appropriate intervention or referral. It also develops knowledge on the pathophysiological / psychosocial impact of cardiac disease, and the ethical & legal implications for practice with regard to assessment & managing acute & critically ill people.
Students apply this learning to their own role, developing their own portfolio of learning to enhance transferable skills & knowledge relating to evaluation of their own role & care provision.
The Student Finance service provides student loans to help pay for tuition fees and the cost of living, depending on your circumstances.
You'll be charged interest on your loan as soon as you take it out, but you only start repayments once you earn more than a certain amount - currently £21,000.
Repayments are based on how much you earn, not how much you've borrowed.
