Take a look at the work that turns literary ideas into reality.
A bachelor's degree in publishing will give you an insight into the literary world and how written media goes from an idea to a readable product. Usually taking 3-4 years to complete when studied full-time, a publishing degree will cover topics such as editing and proofreading, book marketing, digital publishing, and book design and production. It is common for publishing degrees, particularly at undergraduate level, to be combined with other subjects. The combinations often include creative writing, journalism, and language.
Studying abroad as an international student is a good chance to get a degree from a university of your choice, but also study with a group of students from all over the world. This not only diversifies your points of view, but also grows your future professional networks.
Admission Requirements
The admission requirements for a bachelor's degree in publishing normally include a high school diploma or the equivalent. Some universities might require that you have previously studied specific topics, such as business or English.
For programs taught in a language that is not your native language, you will need to provide evidence of your language proficiency. If the teaching language is English, this can be done with IELTS or TOEFL test results, which are accepted by most universities around the world.
Tuition Fees
Tuition fees for international students vary depending on what country you choose to study in and which country you are from. You might be eligible for financial assistance, in the form of a scholarship or grant. These can be very helpful with the overall cost of studying abroad. It is important to do your research when considering applying for any financial aid.
Careers
Graduates of a publishing degree will have a range of options available. You can choose to pursue further studies, such as a masters degree, or look for a job in the industry. Job roles can include publishing agent, public relations manager, author, or editor. There are many fields within the literary world, and you are not limited to books.
Outside of publishing, your skills and knowledge will be desirable in various jobs, such as copywriting, marketing, advertising and teaching, among others.
