Healthand social care workers offer a vital service to the UK - their contribution tothe health service is invaluable.
Our top-up degree is designed forprofessionals from a social care, housing, health or nursing background whoalready have a qualification at diploma level and wish to obtain a degree. Ifyou are working or planning to work in community settings and require a healthand social care degree for career progression, this is the programme for you.
Youwill develop specific knowledge and understanding on complex health and socialcare issues, so you can give the best support to service users. We havewell-equipped facilities to support all your activities, and employ creativeteaching methods and assessment techniques.
Our lecturers,who are experts in the field of health and social care, will provide you withan integrated knowledge base. You will draw from contributing disciplines andphilosophies and apply these to your areas of practice and interest. Our degreeprovides you with experience and knowledge of multi-professional andmulti-agency teamwork. We are strong supporters of collaborative practice and wehave strong partnerships with service users and carers.
Throughoutthe year you will integrate both theory and practice. Our approach is based oninter-professional learning where you will study alongside other professions,learning with, from and about one another. This, we find, improves collaborationand the quality of care.
Wepride ourselves on combining high-quality teaching with world-class researchand a vibrant student experience. This is why we are consistently rated highlyin the National Student Survey. You will start the programme at Level 6 (equivalentto the third year of a degree) and it will provide 120 academic credits.
Pleasenote that this programme does not enable you to qualify as a professionalsocial worker. If you wish to do so, you should apply for the BA Hons SocialWork degree.
