This degree provides an analysis of the experiences of childhood and youth. It usesthe subject disciplines of sociology, psychology and history to really explorechildhood, and willprovide you with opportunities to specialise in your chosen areas.
If youare passionate about social change and want to be part of creating a betterfuture for the next generation, this degree gives you the opportunity to studysocial enterprise. Here you will explore setting up your own social enterpriseto help solve some of the challenges young people face, with the ultimate goalof graduating with an established enterprise and full time employment.
Duringyour time with us you will gain an awareness of the rights of children andyoung people, with reference to their role and status in society. You willdevelop essential skills in recognising how the experiences of childhood andyouth are shaped by class, race, gender, disability, sexuality, religion,poverty, region and nationality.
Thisdegree will opendoors to many employment opportunities. It is particularly fitting for those looking toprogress into youth and community, psychology, socialenterprise, thethird sector and even local government positions.
Alternatively it also provides a sound preparation for postgraduate courses in primary or early years teaching, social work, children's nursing and play therapy, as well as further academic study to MA or PhD level.
