What you'll studyYear 1In Year 1 we lay the foundation for your studies by exploring various areas of Animation. Specifically, we look at the theoretical and practical art skills and knowledge, including drawing and traditional media; the base principles of animation (both 2D and 3D) with associated software skills where appropriate; the more technical and creative aspects of using computers for art and the visual communication skills required for telling interesting stories in your work.
Compulsory modulesIn Year 2 we start to allow you to specialise. You still have core units that cover more advanced areas of animation, traditional art and digital art, as well as further consideration given to storytelling in a number of different forms. The options are designed to be flexible as well as helping you understand a specialist field.

The Double Project allows you to choose an area of academic interest and focus on it in a detailed manner. Animation Studio is designed to replicate the studio environment and working conditions you would find in industry.
Compulsory modulesYour time at university should be enjoyable and rewarding, and it is important that it is not spoilt by unnecessary financial worries. We recommend that you spend time planning your finances, both before coming to university and while you are here. We can offer advice on living costs and budgeting, as well as on awards, allowances and loans.
