This Landscape Institute accredited BAHons Landscape Architecture programme is the first exciting step in aprofessional career in landscape architecture. It is the only BA Hons LandscapeArchitecture programme in London. Students enjoy close relationships withleading landscape architecture practices and proximity to world-famous parks,buildings, gardens.
On the programme, students explore a diverserange of approaches to the design of landscapes, such as green roofs, livingwalls, courtyards, public spaces, parks, squares, waterfronts, urbanmasterplans and regional strategies.
The programme centres on the design studiowhere students are introduced to innovative approaches in landscapearchitecture and encouraged to develop design speculations for futurelandscapes and cities. Visits to London's art galleries (Tate Modern, ICA),museums (British Museum) and important landscapes (Queen Elizabeth OlympicPark, Kew Gardens, Royal Park Greenwich) as well as lectures by leadinginternational designers are part of the degree. Students are encouraged to attendfield-study courses abroad (recently to New York and Istanbul) which informtheir design projects. The design studio is supported by studies in the historyand theory of landscape, urban ecology, conservation, horticulture,construction, visual representation, drawing skills and digital communication.Details of international events, open lectures and examples of student portfolioscan be found on the collective blog written by the landscape architecture and urbanism staff and students, The Landscape.
The programme is basedin the Department ofArchitecture and Landscape in a new state of the art building designed. It isequipped with fourteen green roofs, aquaponics lab, digital workshops, modelworkshop, photography suite, film studios and animation suites. The buildingalso includes extensive design studios, a world-class library and two galleryspaces. The building is located in the heart of Greenwich, the newest additionto a suite of magnificent buildings that occupy the UNESCO World Heritage siteand the location of the Greenwich Prime Meridian.
