Study a Ergonomics Masters abroad in 2025

Learn how to approach design from a human perspective.

A masters degree in ergonomics is an opportunity for you to upgrade your design skills, making you ready for the 21st century. It is becoming increasingly recognised that the way people interact with the environment, products and services around them is individual, and that this needs to be considered when going through the design process, making things more human-centred.

Usually taking 1-2 years to complete when studied full-time, an ergonomics masters degree will cover subjects such as human factors, healthcare ergonomics, inclusive design, and interaction and experience, among others.

Application Requirements

Admission requirements for a masters degree in ergonomics usually include a bachelors degree in a related field. Some universities will consider applicants who have previously studied in other fields, or those who have relevant professional experience. There might be other academic requirements, such as your grades throughout your degree, you can find out more information about this from your university.

You will also need to provide evidence of your language proficiency, if you will not be learning in your first language. This can often be done through IELTS or TOEFL test results, which are widely accepted by universities.

Universities in most countries charge tuition fees for international students. You might be eligible for financial assistance, depending on where you are from and where you choose to study. It is important to do your research to understand the cost of studying abroad and if you are able to access scholarships or grants to help with this.

Careers

Graduates of a masters degree in ergonomics will have an advanced knowledge of design, and will have a unique and desirable skillset. You might choose to pursue further studies, or look for a job within one of the many fields you would be suited for. Job roles available to you might include usability designer, risk consultant, ergonomist, or design engineer.
