Study a Sports Journalism degree abroad in 2025

Share your passion for sports with the world.

A bachelor's degree in sports journalism is a way for you to combine your love for sports with a flair for writing. Usually taking 3-4 years to complete when studied full-time, a sports journalism degree will cover topics such as news and ethics, news shorthand, media law, and live sport coverage. Depending on your course, you might also study modules on popular sports.

Studying abroad as an international student is a great opportunity to not only gain a degree from a university of your choice, but to also study alongside a global group of students. This will diversify your points of view, and grow your post-graduation network.

Admission Requirements

Admission to a bachelor's degree in sports journalism will normally require a high school diploma or equivalent. Some universities might prefer that you have previously studied specific subjects at school, such as English or business.

For programs taught in English, you will need to provide evidence of your language proficiency, unless you are exempt from language requirements. This can be done with IELTS or TOEFL test results, which are widely accepted by universities.

Tuition Fees

Tuition fees for international students vary depending on where you are from and where you choose to study. You might be able to access financial assistance, such as a scholarship or grant, which can help with the cost of studying abroad. It is important that you do your research before applying for any financial aid.

Careers

Sports journalism graduates will have a range of options available, including pursuing further studies, such as a masters degree, or looking for a job. Roles available could be directly involved in sports journalism, as a journalist or reporter, or could be in a related field, such as commentary, sports marketing, or photography.
