It is an area that embraces purchasing and supplier management, materials management and manufacturing, inventory management and warehousing, distribution and transport, and customer service. Logistics and Supply chain management offers a career that will continually develop an individual's potential and reward ambition in a challenging global environment. Since the demand for logistics professionals outstrips the supply, there are excellent opportunities for rapid career progression for those with the drive to succeed. Careers in logistics and supply chain management offer early responsibility, exciting challenges with good remuneration and opportunities to travel. The typical student for this pathway seeks a generalist background able to exploit any of the job opportunities found within the logistics industries. The services supporting the retail industry form the focus for discussion and analysis.

Modules

Students are expected to complete four modules: 1 x Mandatory; 1 Elective module and 2 Optional modules. It is possible to complete 2 Elective modules and 1 Optional module if wished.

Professional Accreditations

This award qualifies students to apply for membership of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport with the right to use the post-nominal MILT.

Assessment

Assessment methods include a variety of written formats from essays (ranging from 1,500 to 2,000 words), Directed Reading and Reflection Exercises (up to 500 words in length) and oral presentations delivered both in a group and individually.

In addition to summative assessments the programme also undertakes a range of formative assessments that may include one or more of the following: peer assessed work, group presentations, reflective journals, blogs and wikis, internet searches, document analysis, and bibliographic exercises.

Entry requirements

Entry Criteria

Students are normally in work but applications for those not currently employed are encouraged. The University invites applications from students of other EU countries and from outside the EU, who have qualifications and skills equivalent to the above.

Other equivalent qualifications are accepted and the admissions panel will consider each application on an individual basis.
