BA Theatre Practices and Production is a fantastic degree if you鈥檙e looking to grow your curiosity and creativity, and have an outlet for expressing your ideas in writing, speech and performance.
As well as learning about theatre history and performance, you鈥檒l perform, create and implement designs for sets, lighting and costumes; critically analyse plays, performances and audiences; and have direct contact with drama and theatre professionals.
The course includes regular field trips to institutions such as Battersea Arts Centre, the National Theatre, and the Southbank Centre, and free theatre tickets for some of London鈥檚 best shows.
If you come from a vocational or industry-related background (eg. BTEC Performing Arts), this programme is designed with you in mind. The course will build on the capabilities, expectations and ambitions these more vocational qualifications provide.
You鈥檒l develop your critical, practical, creative and well-informed responses to a range of professional contexts, while building your confidence in writing in different styles (including playwriting, blogging, theatre criticism, creation of theatre programs and analytical essays).
Focusing on both performing and performance-making, you will explore the professional contexts that make up the diversity of contemporary drama and performance-related careers.
You will learn the conceptual, problem-solving and collaborative skills associated with cultural enterprise and arts management; and the particular challenges of self-organisation and engagement with others that belong to applied theatre work.
You will develop your critical thinking skills, work on independent projects, take part in group theatrical productions for public performance, and have access to work experience opportunities.
