This degree programme can give you a strong grounding in the major areas of business while developing your foreign language skills and your understanding of a major European business centre.
This course will help you prepare for professional roles in the public and private sectors in the UK and internationally.
This degree examines the key themes and emerging challenges facing business in a global context, with a special emphasis on Spanish culture.
Progressive business-focused modules span areas including strategy, marketing, finance, organisational behaviour and human resource management.
A study year abroad or a one-year paid placement in the third year provides you with an outstanding opportunity to develop either your knowledge of business or further your skills at a Spanish and/or Latin American university, differentiating you from the majority of professionals.
Throughout the degree you will develop a high level of understanding of written and spoken Spanish and gain a deep understanding of the culture and business practices of Spain and/or Latin America.
In the final year there are no core modules which focus on business and management. Instead you will examine areas already studied at a more advanced level, selecting from a wide range of optional modules, allowing you to tailor your degree programme to suit your individual interests and ambitions.
Placement - This degree provides you with the opportunity to take a one-year industry placement in Spain or Latin America in your third year. You will also have the chance to study at a Spanish or Latin American University. Our Spanish partner institutions include universities in Alcalá de Henares, Bilbao, Oviedo, Salamanca and Valladolid. You can also choose to study in Havana, Cuba, Buenos Aires, Argentina, or at the Universidad de las Américas Puebla in Cholula, Mexico. The Department of Modern Languages and European Studies has a study abroad officer who can help you prepare for study at one of these universities. A successful industry placement can also lead to a job offer with your placement company upon graduation. You will also have lots of opportunities to develop excellent professional contacts that will stand you in good stead for the future.
Subject to the Government passing legislation to raise the minimum fee cap, we will raise undergraduate tuition fees from £9,000 to £9,250 for new UK/EU students applying to start courses in the 2017/18 academic year. You will not be affected by this rise if you have deferred entry to the 2017/18 academic year. The Government will confirm future arrangements for EU students in due course.
