About Finance and Investment Banking, BSc (Hons) - at University of Reading

A career in the financial markets, investment banking and securities is the first choice for many well-qualified graduates. It’s not hard to see why when some starting salaries can exceed £40,000.

The ICMA centre is part of the triple-accredited Henley Business School and is ranked 14th in the UK for Accounting and Finance (Times/Sunday Times University Guide 2017).

This course offers integrated theory and practice that will empower you to find your dream job in large corporations, working in investment banking, asset management, corporate finance, general accounting or a wide range of other areas.

The BSc Finance and Investment Banking is an official Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) University Affiliate. This title certifies the academic rigour and practical relevance of the degree and recognises that the curriculum covers at least 70% of the CFA Level I candidate body of knowledge. It also comes with a series of benefits, including annual scholarships for final-year students who want to sit the exam.

Our three dealing rooms are equipped by Thomson Reuters and Bloomberg, and use the latest industry trading simulation software. By taking this degree you will experience the thrill of a live market – take positions, quote two-way prices and manage the risk of a $50-100 million trading book. You will also manage multi-asset portfolios using live prices and the latest investment management technology.

This first-hand practical experience is a unique learning opportunity and will give you an advantage over other job applicants.

Notes about fees for this course

Subject to the Government passing legislation to raise the minimum fee cap, we will raise undergraduate tuition fees from £9,000 to £9,250 for new UK/EU students applying to start courses in the 2017/18 academic year.
