About Electrical and Electronic Engineering with a Year Abroad, BEng (Hons) - at University of Nottingham

This course covers the same topics as the Electrical and Electronic Engineering degree with the added advantage of spending one year abroad. MEng students spend Year three studying in one of several leading international universities in America, Australia, Canada or Malaysia, and BEng students spend Year two at Nottingham's Malaysia Campus.

Year one
You will gain an understanding of the principles and practices on which electrical and electronic engineering is founded, achieved through the study of analogue and digital electronics, the application of electrical energy and practical work including programming and projects. Your appreciation of the aspects of science and mathematics, which underpin the subject, will also be enhanced.

Year two
Students spend the year at Nottingham's Malaysia campus. Here you will continue to develop your understanding of electrical and electronic engineering. This will prepare you to study, in the final year of your course, emerging and advanced technologies usually taught by internationally recognised researchers. Group projects, presentations and seminars enable you to gain the skills and understanding essential for the workplace.

Year three
In the final year, you will be able to choose from a range of specialist topics. You will also undertake an individual research project, which forms a major component of your final year.

By the end of the course
You will have a thorough understanding of electrical and electronic engineering and will have learnt about emerging and advanced technologies from internationally recognised researchers. During your time abroad, your knowledge of social and business culture will have increased. Through a major final-year project, you will have refined your engineering and organisational skills.
