Overview
Combining business subjects with the study of the Italian language and culture, this degree will equip you with the skills and knowledge to work in a fast-changing global business environment.
The BComm (International) with Italian produces business graduates who can work through Italian, who have strong analytical skills, and who have an understanding of Italian society. Most of our students have no Italian before joining us, but your degree provides access to the language, culture and society of an important country, both politically and economically.
You will take commerce subjects alongside students in the BComm and in the other BComm (International)courses. Italian is a small, accessible department, where learning takes place in small groups, allowing you to reach a high level of linguistic proficiency and to develop important critical skills.
Year 3 of this four-year degree is spent studying business courses at a prestigious partner university in Italy.

Costs: Full-time EU/EEA/Swiss State undergraduate students may be exempt from paying tuition fees. The State will pay the tuition fees for students who satisfy the Free Fees Criteria. In 2016/17 the Student Contribution Charge will be EUR 3,000 and the Capitation Fee will be EUR 165.
2017 Entry Requirements: H5 in two subjects, and O6/H7 in four other subjects in the Leaving Certificate from Irish, English, another language, Mathematics and two other subjects recognised for entry purposes. Special Entry Requirement: H3 in a language other than English.

Course Practicalities
In each year of the course, you will have between 15-20 contact hours per week and are also required to study independently. In Italian, this may include an online language course, reinforcing classwork and taken whenever and wherever you have internet access, or in the language laboratories.
Assessment
Written exams will take place before Christmas and in May. Not all modules will have formal examinations. Many modules use other types of assessment including in-class tests, essays, projects and oral presentations.
Language skills are assessed by assignments and/or written and listening tests, which provide you with regular feedback on your progress. At the end of the year, you take written and oral examinations.

EU Applicants: Application to Year 1 of the degree programme is made directly through the Central Applications Office (CAO). Applicants should apply online at www.cao.ie. The normal closing date for receipt of completed applications is 1st February of the year of entry.
Non-EU Applicants
Mature Applicants: Application is made through the CAO and the closing date for receipt of completed applications is 1st February of the year of proposed entry.
