About Diploma of Engineering Technology in Ship Construction and Maintenance, UG:Diploma - at Universiti Kuala Lumpur (Uni KL)

The Diploma of Engineering Technology in Ship Construction and Maintenance is a 3-year programme and in order to graduate students need to complete a maximum of 100 credit hours. Upon completion of this programmes, the students will be able to:

  • understand the major principles of ship and boat construction.
  • work effectively in shipbuilding, engineering planning and scheduling activities.
  • understand the rationale for combining a modern ship design with an efficient and effectiveness shipyard/boatyard manufacturing system.
  • understand that construction is closely linked with efficient manufacturing processes.
  • be aware of links between the ship/boat build plan and yard layout.
  • have an opening knowledge of a method of work breakdown structure.
  • understand and apply standardized work practices.

Entry requirements

Entry Requirements For This Course:

CERTIFICATIONS:

Pass certificate (Level 3, KKM) certified Engineering/Technology Engineering OR related from Higher Education Institution certified by Malaysia Government with minimum CGPA 2.00

OR


Pass certificate (Level 3, KKM) certified Vocational/Technical/Skills or related from Higher Education Institution certified by Malaysia Government with minimum CGPA 2.00 and at least one (1) credit in SPM with working experience within related fields for one (1) year OR at least bridging program for one (1) semester

OR

Hold The Malaysian Skills Certificate (SKM) level 3 certified and:

  • Pass SPM/SPMV with at least one (1) credit
  • Continue study in Diploma within the same field

  • If needed, UniKL have to prepare a bridging program as consolidation program for students who change from skill sector students into academic sector

O LEVEL: Pass O Level with minimum Grade C in five (5) subjects includes Mathematics, one (1) Science subjects OR technical OR Vokasional and two (2) other subjects and at least pass English
