Developing proficiency in a modern language is integral to the degree. We offer a range of languages at beginners' or advanced level, including Chinese, French, German, Spanish and business English.
There are several pathways through the degree, depending on your language level and needs.
You may choose to spend a year on work placement or studying abroad. These opportunities enhance your CV, improve your language skills, and give you an international perspective on business management.
We also offer International Business Management BSc Honours at our London campus.

Pathways through the degree
Pathways through the degreeThere are three pathways through the degree.
Studying a modern language at post-A level or equivalent
You can study French, German or Spanish at post-A level or equivalent.
This four-year degree includes a year abroad at an international partner University, developing your language skills and experiencing another culture.
Studying a modern language from beginner's level
You can study Chinese, French, German or Spanish from beginners' level.
This is a three-year degree, but may be extended to four years by taking either a study abroad year or a work placement (subject to visa restrictions)
Studying Advanced Business English
This route is available to non-native English speakers, who have IELTS 6.5 on entry.
This is a three-year degree, but may be extended to four years by taking either a study abroad year or a work placement (subject to visa restrictions)
Those taking a four-year path will be registered as N120 and those taking a three-year path as N121.

A study abroad year is compulsory for students taking languages post A-Level, to support your language learning.
For students studying languages at beginners' level, this year is optional.
We currently have partners in various locations in France, Spain, Germany and China.
Work placement year
Those opting to take a work placement will gain invaluable business experience.
You'll receive support from the Business School's Placement Officer and the University's Careers Service to find a placement that matches your skills and interests.
