Work placement or study abroad

Work placement or study abroad

You can choose to spend a year between your second and third year of study in a 12-month work placement in the UK or overseas, or studying at one of our partner universities abroad.

Study abroad

You can study abroad at one of our partner universities in Europe through the Erasmus exchange scheme. We currently have partners in Denmark, Finland, France, Holland, Norway, Spain and Sweden.

Work placement

You will gain valuable industry experience from taking a 12-month work placement in a UK or overseas business.

The Business School's dedicated Placement Officer and the University's Careers Service will help you find a placement that matches your skills and interests.

We've placed students in a range of companies including: IBM, Disney, Procter & Gamble, Nissan, Marks & Spencer, Unilever, Accenture, Cummins, GSK and Microsoft.

This year placement students are working in roles such as market assistants or assistant brand managers within large multinational corporations. They are undertaking projects including:

  • developing the social media strategy for HP Enterprise Group
  • assisting in the running of events in retail stores for Apple
  • building the new corporate website for Dr. Oetker
  • providing support to the PR team within Barbour
  • forecasting and analysing sales orders for the women's training category of Nike
