The Certificate IV in Music Industry (Sound Production) develops fundamental sound production skills in both studio and live production environments, with a focus on music production. Conducted in professional recording studios and performance venues, students use integrated practical projects to develop skills and prepare a professional portfolio of work to launch them into a career in the music industry.

Teaching staff are active practitioners with years of industry experience, eager to impart their insights and share opportunities with passionate students.
Students work in state of the art recording and live performance facilities, using analogue and digital technologies, and industry-standard software packages Pro Tools and Ableton live.
Collaboration and entrepreneurship are at the core of the program, with integrated creative projects facilitating networking with students from other disciplines.

Melbourne Polytechnic minimum academic level differs depending on the course. Most certificate and diploma level courses require evidence of completion to studies equivalent to Australian Year 11 or 12, bachelor degree courses require evidence of completion to studies equivalent to Australian Year 12, and master degree courses require evidence of completion to studies AQF (Australian) Bachelor degree or overseas equivalent.
If you do not meet Melbourne Polytechnic鈥檚 academic entry-level requirements but have acquired skills or knowledge relevant to your chosen course, you may apply as a mature age student. A mature age student is considered to be over 18 years old, and has been out of full-time education for at least one year.
