During your time on the MSc Engineering Management programme, you’ll be taught by a dedicated team of academics, with extensive industry and research experience and knowledge. The course curriculum is designed in consultation with the school’s Industry Advisory Board (IAB), whereby industry experts ensured its relevance to current market needs.

Our campus is perfectly placed for us to stay connected. Not only are we centred in the heart of Buckinghamshire, we are also only 30 minutes away from London and Oxford. As well as this we are lucky to have industry-leading companies right on our doorstep. This includes Formula 1 motorsport businesses at the Silverstone Technology Cluster and space related industries at the Westcott Space Cluster. BNU engineering students could have the opportunity to link with some of these high-tech industries.

Facilities

During your time on the course you’ll have access to our state-of-the-art and brand-new Engineering and the Built Environment facilities, including;

  • Building Services Lab, to include Air Conditioning Trainer, Hydro-electric Turbine and Photovoltaic Cells
  • Concrete & Geotechnical Testing Lab, to include Slump Test, Concrete Density, Porosity, Flexural and Compression Testing, Soil Shear, Grading and Moisture Tests. 
  • Fluids/Thermo/Hydraulics Lab, to include Pneumatics Workstation, Digital Hydraulic Bench, Axial Flow Pump and Surface Tension Balance. 
  • Mechanical/Structural Lab, to include different Structural Test kits that will measure Deflection of Beams & Cantilevers, Bending Stress and Bending Moments
  • Electronics and High Voltage Lab, to include Power and Energy Electronics, Modern Electrical Machine Systems, Three Phase Power Systems
  • Automation/Manufacturing/General Workshop, to include 3D Metal Printer, Hardness Tester, Universal Tensile Testing, Impact Tester and and Dobot Smart Industry 4.0 Workstation
  • CAD Lab and Design Studio
  • Immersive Virtual Reality Lab

Study Options

This programme runs as both a full-time and part-time course, with part-time structured across a two-year span, so you can fit it around your other commitments outside of study.

What will I study? 

The MSc in Engineering Management offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills needed to excel in today's complex engineering environments. Through a blend of theoretical coursework and practical applications, you’ll explore key topics such as engineering project management, supply chain management, and lean engineering principles. 

As well as this you’ll learn how to effectively plan, execute, and monitor engineering projects while optimizing resources and minimizing waste. You’ll investigate advanced manufacturing techniques and gain insights into sustainable practices and ethical considerations within the engineering industry, preparing you to be able to address pressing global challenges while upholding principles of environmental stewardship and social responsibility.

Through industry driven projects, and collaborations, you'll dive deep into the practical side of engineering management. You’ll gain hands-on experience through case studies, simulations, and real-world projects, allowing you to apply theoretical knowledge to practical scenarios commonly encountered in the workplace.

During your time studying with us you’ll also delve into essential concepts in operations management, automation, and robotics, providing students with a deep understanding of how to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and leverage emerging technologies to drive innovation.

The School of Engineering and the Built Environment at BNU has a growing network of engineering industries. How will I be taught and assessed?

During your time on the Engineering Management masters, you’ll experience a range of active teaching methods and authentic assessment strategies, with an emphasis on both practical and traditional teaching approaches.

You’ll also have opportunities to put your knowledge learnt in lectures and tutorials to practice In laboratory sessions and during a range of practical activities.
